Palace Youth Theatre

PYT 14-16's Summer Term 2016

Palace Youth Theatre (PYT) Ages 14-16 years, runs on a Tuesday evenings from 5.30-7.15pm in the Rehearsal Room at Watford Palace Theatre.

In each session the participants will take part in fun drama games, creative exercises, and technique development. The aim of the class is to support participants who show an interest in theatre, to develop their drama skills and knowledge, as well as to build confidence and communication skills. It offers them a chance to do something creative, have a chance to perform on a small scale and to make new friends.

Each term we explore a different topic or skill using drama, often informed by participant interests. Previously we have explored ensemble skills, writing and performing 60 second plays, and short film making. The last few weeks of term focuses on creating a short informal performance for family and friends in the final session. Performances usually take place in the Rehearsal Room at Watford Palace Theatre, but they can take place in any location around the building. Where possible and appropriate we encourage participants to connect with Watford Palace Theatre by running trips to see shows here and recommending other opportunities such as auditions for Herts County Youth Theatre or volunteering for young production team.

No experience is required and there are no auditions. Participants are welcome to take part in a trial session at the start of term to see whether they would like to take part.
