Celebrate Black History Month

Join Alexander D Great as he hosts a celebration of the history and creativity behind Calypso and Carnival. Special guests include Debra "Pan Diva" Eden steel pan player and vocalist, UK African Acrobats Emmanuel Okine and brother, plus high-energy Nostalgia Steelband, the UK’s first steel band established in 1964. An inspirational performer, Alexander has appeared at festivals and well known venues across the UK and has a career in music spanning over thirty years.

The celebration also features a performance from young people and Seneke from Mbilla Arts in Walthamstow, following African/Brazilian Drumming workshops at the Thrive Youth Project - an initiative set up by Watford African Caribbean Association to engage local young people.

Why not stay with us to enjoy free music and poetry in our lovely café, where the bar will be open. Bedfordshire based Soul Food Poetry brings words to life with their regular music and spoken word evenings across the region. Settle in and enjoy!
