A producer is someone who oversees programming, development and delivery of an artistic project or event. Producers act as fundraisers, marketers, and managers. They bring together creative ambition and logistical planning, setting the conditions of a project in order to enable artistic progress. In this way, a producer can take a creative idea and bring it into reality.
If you’re interested in the logistics behind film, performance, and outdoor festivals, or want to run your own creative projects in Watford, becoming one of our Young Producers will equip you with the essential skills and experience needed for a professional producing career in the arts.
This autumn, our Young Producers are taking part in seminars run by our very own professional team at the Palace, and will have the chance to select films for, and event manage, our Watford Young Filmmakers Festival in 2018. In the spring and summer they will assist on the planning and delivery of our Imagine Watford Outdoor Festival in 2018!
Young Producers schemes offer an alternate route into arts careers and allows for you to develop skills necessary for the industry that are difficult to obtain without employment first. By taking part in our Young Producers scheme, you will:
• Widen your network and knowledge of the arts industry
• Develop specific skills required to plan and deliver festivals and shows
• Be able to develop within your specific area of interest of arts management
• Have a volunteering role on your CV that will be looked upon favourably by employers
Being part of the Young Producer’s programme at Watford Palace is a voluntary opportunity. You will be mentored by our industry professionals in a supportive and safe environment.
