Community Choir

Watford Palace Theatre Community Choir

A fun and friendly weekly choir open to all adults and all abilities.

Watford Palace Theatre runs a weekly community choir, which is open to all, with no audition or experience required. The group focuses on enjoyment of singing, aiming to learn and improve along the way. The choir meets every Wednesday evening from 7.30-9.30pm during school term time.

You are welcome to try out a session for free at the start of term. Just drop an email to Participation to let them know you are coming along.

The group sings a mixture of repertoire (some of which they suggest) ranging from show tunes to seasonal favourites and classic pop songs – everything from Gabriel Fauré to Bob Dylan! They are led by their professional musical director Steven Merrony, who writes the arrangements and also accompanies the group on piano.

In December, the choir sang a medley from Oliver! The Musical on the Palace Theatre stage to an audience of 150 plus and also sang for the inpatients at NHS Langley House Community Hospital and Neuro Rehab Centre. We will be performing for other community organisations and charities in 2018.

Sheet music is provided for those who can read it or who would like to learn, but there is absolutely no pressure to use sheet music, we want all our singers to feel comfortable.

We do hope you will join us for a good sing, a cup of tea and sometimes some homemade cake!

Our first term date for Spring 2018 is the January 10th - 7.30pm at the theatre. Email us at or call 01923 810307 to arrange your free trial session. After that, your first term will cost just £65.00 for the remaining 10 sessions (11 in total). You can pay either at box office, or bring your money to your second session and we'll do the rest.

In  summer 2017 our Choir were invited to sing in France- you can read all about it in the Watford Observer here:

We hope to make other choir trips both abroad and in the UK in future.

Come and join us in January- we'll be waiting to greet you at the theatre!
