Pantomime Magic at Watford Palace Theatre
Top of the festive tree this month is the Palace’s own Christmas spectacular: Jack and the Beanstalk, written by me. Expect live music, outrageous comedy, local gags, and a hearty dose of much-needed joy. It’s set to be Watford’s must-see family event of the season. If you haven’t booked yet, get going – tickets are flying faster than magic beans.
Want to play Traitor? Werewolf at the Palace
If you’re looking for something more mischievous to break up the mince pies and merriment, don’t miss Werewolf – before there were Traitors there were wolves — a riotous live game-theatre mash-up where audience members bluff, scheme and accuse their way through a night of social deduction. Expect sharp wit, big laughs and just the right amount of festive chaos as players try to sniff out who among them is hiding a tail and fangs. It’s a brilliant alternative night out and fast becoming a Palace December favourite.
Festive Flourish at Watford Colosseum
The Colosseum ramps up the winter mood with a mix of music and fun. Highlights include Perfectly George (George Michael tribute), Snowing Me Snowing You (ABBA Christmas show – obvs), and festive concerts from leading orchestras, a night of swing and soul Christmas classics, and several high-energy tribute shows guaranteed to get even the grinchiest Grinch dancing. Whether you’re craving carols, classics or a full-on seasonal bop, the Colosseum’s December programme has you covered.
Christmas Spirit at the Pump House
Over at the Pump House, there’s a wonderfully mix of theatre, comedy, and music. Expect local drama groups taking to the stage, open mic Christmas sets, Watford Comedy Night – Christmas Special and the very festive sounding Me, My Therapist and I.
Across Watford: Lights, Makers & More
The cultural buzz spills out across town as well. Don’t miss the Watford Christmas Market, ideal for finding handmade gifts while supporting independent makers. The town centre light installations are bigger and brighter than ever, perfect for evening wanders. And for those after a quiet retreat from the bustle, Watford Museum hosts seasonal exhibitions and family-friendly creative workshops. Check out watfordactually.com for more listings.
December in Watford is bursting with ways to celebrate – on stage, on the high street, and all around the community. Wrap up warm, step out, and discover something brilliant right on your doorstep.
