Alex Williams Sings The Great American Songbook

Alex Williams, host of the popular Dial Up open mic events, invites you to join him for an hour of pure pleasure as he escorts you through a range of fantastic melodies from the worlds of Hollywood, Broadway and Tin Pan Alley. For the literary buffs among you, Alex will also be sharing excerpts from some of his published works, including his young adult novel His Hidden Wings, and his poetry collection Black Iris. With something for all tastes, you’re guaranteed a sparkling show!

Pictland

 

Two years of famine in Pictland. Mysterious carvings are appearing in stone. Bosh and Vis have been taking it in turns to watch the field. Mo is trying to hold things together. Shan and Tak arrive with a dilemma: do they stay where they are and risk starvation or leave to go elsewhere. And if they leave as a group, what will make them their own "community"? Through witty and philosophical discussion, democracy is put to the test to establish the conditions of the group. But what really needs to be sacrificed in order to build a nation?

Dog/Actor

 

DOG/ACTOR is a “tour-de-force” comedic double-bill of two monologues written by Steven Berkoff. The first half, DOG, focuses on a day in the life of a racist 1980s football hooligan and his beloved pit-bull terrier, Roy, who changes his life. The second, ACTOR, is a spoken word monologue which delves into the heart of the acting industry, humorously and poignantly portraying the trying life of a struggling artist. Performed back-to-back by one actor within one hour, DOG/ACTOR delivers a thrilling theatrical experience.

Life from Low Angle

 

Life from Low angle is the story of how a short, quirky looking boy managed to achieve his dream to direct television for the BBC, even though doctors told him he wouldn’t be able to do much of anything. If you are interested in finding out how to get into TV, want to be inspired to follow your dreams, or just fancy passing some time listening to stories full of name dropping and jaw dropping humour, you better get your ticket.

Macreedy!

 

This solo performance, written and performed by actor Mark Waghorn, charts the life and times of William Charles Macready, one of the 19th Century’s greatest actors. The story of Macready - a First Player in the line of Burbage, Garrick, Kemble, and Kean - and the man to whom Charles Dickens dedicated "Nicholas Nickleby" - is one of the most remarkable ever to come out of the Theatre.
