The autumn 2020 season at Watford Palace Theatre
6 August 2020
Despite the easing of some of the restrictions on live theatre, it is unfortunately not going to be viable for Watford Palace Theatre to re-open for the autumn season, and there will be no performances before December.
Therefore, we have made the sad decision to postpone the forthcoming October run of The Merchant of Venice, our co-production with four other regional theatres, starring Tracy Ann Oberman. We are passionate about ensuring that this timely and vital production is brought to audiences, so we will continue to work on bringing it to the stage, with help from generous donations made by members of the public, which are being held safely in a Restricted Fund to be called on in future, when the show can happen.
Additional programmed events, such as Live and As Live performances are cancelled. For more information about affected shows, please click here.
We are contacting all customers who booked tickets for any cancelled or postponed performances, either by email or telephone, to offer a reimbursement of funds. If you have tickets and have not been contacted, we apologise, and would ask you to please email firstname.lastname@example.org, quoting the order number found on your ticket or booking confirmation email. Staff will process any refunds as quickly as possible, however unfortunately this may take longer than usual due to the reduced team in operation.
AND NOW FOR SOME GOOD NEWS!
Before lockdown began, plans were already underway for our Black History Month Celebration, which we are now excited to announce will be delivered as an online event as part of our Palace @ Home programme!
ASK ME HOW I FEEL - how has 2020 been for you?
A digital platform for local Black voices, young and old, to celebrate Black History Month through spoken word, poetry, music, photography, digital projects, paintings, dance, or whatever inspires you! This LIVE online event will take place on Sunday 18 October at 4pm.
If you would like to take part then please email your contact details to email@example.com and we will send the information when it becomes available.
All of us at Watford Palace Theatre are incredibly grateful for all the support and donations we have received from our community so far, and we are working hard to build our resilience for the future.
