Open Day Come Celebrate our 110th

5 July 2018

Great stories that entertain, provoke and inspire, on our stage and in our streets - since 1908!

OPEN DAY - Sunday 16th September 10.30am - 5.30pm

Come and see behind the scenes at our beautiful historic theatre. 'It is a jewel' The Independent Our friendly team will welcome you and your family to share the history of the Palace, with lots of special activities throughout the day. There will be a wartime theme to the day, linked to our production of Much Ado About Nothing , which is set in our theatre in the 1940s. Come and try on a Second World War flying jacket and helmet from our local de Havilland Airfield Museum, or have a go at some code-breaking.

If you have wartime family photos you’d be prepared to share in our Digital Gallery, bring them along for us to scan, or email them to marketing@watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk. Celebrated local author Katharine McMahon will read an extract from her new novel The Hour of Separation , partly set in Watford during the Second World War. Historian of Black Britain Stephen Bourne will read from his new book War to Windrush , celebrating the wartime contribution of Black women. See the Heritage Open Day event on our website for more details.
