Gary Owen is a playwright, and winner of the Meyer Whitworth, George Devine and Pearson best play awards. He has been writer-in-residence at Paines Plough, a script editor of BBC Wales Drama and has had his plays performed around the UK as well as internationally.

His play We That Are Left was first performed at the Palace in 2007 and Mrs Reynolds and the Ruffian premiered at the Palace in 2010.

Most recently, he has written Love Steals Us From Loneliness for The National Theatre Wales and Blackthorn for Clwyd Theatr Cymru. As well as co-writing the BBC Wales TV series Baker Boys, he's currently working on new plays for the Palace and for the National Theatre of Scotland.
